Upstaging Anna Bligh on Master Chef
20 10 2009
Yes, we made the ad. Whether you like it or hate it negative political advertising is a reality of life. Aside from being quite fun to produce, it can be extremely effective in grabbing attention and as we discovered last week, can produce a lot more media coverage than even we had anticipated. more
Channeling the New TV World
20 10 2009
Following the appearance of several new channels on my TV this year, without any effort on my behalf (and with thanks to an in-built tuner) I decided it was time to try and get a handle on where High Definition TV is up to and how many more channels might appear!
My initial search took me to the Freeview website. I discovered ‘Freeview’ is the brand name for the collection of digital TV channels from Australia’s free-to-view networks, as opposed to one channel or service. Not surprisingly Freeview is owned by ABC, SBS, Seven, Nine, TEN, Southern Cross, Prime, WIN. more
Making (Paper) History
20 10 2009
When Dalton Paper approached us to handle the management, design and marketing of their 2010 student calendar competition we were rather excited. For those not in the design industry, the opportunity to work with a paper supplier is pretty cool, especially as we were given a completely open brief. more

More than 1.4 billion people are now online, and the rapid growth of emerging technologies and social communities is at an all time high. Indesign vs Photoshop for Web Design
14 08 2009
It's come up a few times as to why I design websites in Photoshop. Specifically why I design multiple page websites in Photoshop instead of InDesign. Yes, InDesign is used for creating multiple page documents and can be used for web design but this is not what it was designed to do. more
Earth died screaming
14 08 2009
Despite our greenest intentions, most of us probably don't think too carefully about how much waste we generate each day both personally and institutionally. I certainly don't. The waste disposal systems we have in Australia are very good, you stick it in the bin, the bin gets emptied, a truck comes and you never see it again. If you accidentally put recyclable material in the non-recycle bin, who cares. With the efficient systems we have in the west it's quite easy to get lazy. more
Street photography: Wan Chai District
30 07 2009
No stop-over in Hong Kong is complete without an afternoon spent wandering through the hustle of Wan Chai district. While these dirty, busy streets, jumbled back alleyways, street-side food vendors, 10 level chinese shopping malls and 60 story high rises are not exactly a tourist destination they cut straight to the heart and soul of the city.
For lack of a real Leica, this candid street photography was taken with a very discrete Panasonic digital point-and-shoot. more
